Hot Cold Ground - biographies and band info.
The nation's press and worldwide internet users are all fascinated by the phenomenon that is HCG. Here they can find out information about the band and its members.
Hot Cold Ground, the name comes from the wiring in a 3-core instrument lead. It was chosen from a list of about 80 alternatives, which included Midnight King, Mongoose, and Formal Dismissal Proceedings, that's how you know it's good.
Daniel (vocals/guitar), Graham (drums) and Dave (bass) all played together in a former band, and when we parted company with the singer early in 2009, Daniel took over singing duties.
Trevor then came on board with his guitar stylings, and off we went...
Daniel Carway - vocals and guitar Daniel took up the guitar at age 14, mostly in a bid to make friends at a new school. Early influences came from The Beatles (but he's not that old), and a mixtape of delta blues recordings. He's been in many bands through the years, but this is his first time as frontman. Daniel's main instrument is a 1989 Epiphone Sheraton, through a Boss GT-8 pedal and a Vox Valvetronix 100 watt amp. Sometimes there's a Gretsch Electromatic Junior Jet and a Tokai Rickenbacker replica. Vocals go through a SM58. Daniel's other duties include writing the website and dealing with the recordings (I was going to say 'producing' but that's taking it a bit far).
JJ – drums. JJ Joined us in early 2010, and has been playing for many, many centuries. He brings with him brilliant enthusiasm and a feel for the blues, as well as an unfeasibly small car in which to transport a full drum kit.
Dave Brooks - bass and backing vocals. Dave is the mainstay of the rhythm section, and is a hugely experienced musician. I've run out of things to say but needed a second sentence. Dave plays his beloved Fender Jazz bass through an Ashdown amp and cab. Wirelessly, the flash git. He will sometimes be persuaded to show his Epiphone Thunderbird if you ask nicely.
Trevor Latter – guitar. Trev joined up after a passing remark - when Daniel was searching for a guitarist, Trev said, 'Oh, I used to play a bit'... the rest is history. His infectious enthusiasm sometimes has to be reined in, usually at the end of songs. Trev plays a Yahama SG through a Harley Benton amp & cab, which he mostly built himself.
Glen Butcher – keyboards. Skyscraping tall guy, multi-instrumentalist and polygamous band member Glen first joined as a depping bass player, but we now employ his wizard-like keyboard skills, featuring piano and Hammond. He has also threatened to play saxophone, but one step at a time, eh?
