Groovy Instrumental Duo With A Jazz Flavour
|< Return to listing|
Jonny Berglund (guitar) and Joe Bernard (bass) grew up in South Norfolk, where Joe still resides. Years ago, Jonny wrapped his trusty Gibson in a spotted hanky and headed off for the Big Smoke, where he performs with various musicians, mainly of the jazz persuasion. He used his own powers of persuasion in 2006, chivvying his old mate Joe, veteran of various East Anglian soul and rhythm and blues bands, to join him in a new duo. The emphasis is on groovy, solid playing, and giving their own treatment to a diverse range of material, from the reggae skank of Toots And The Maytals to the sophisticated swing of Duke Ellington.
JB17's take their name from their initials, their approximate age when they first became freinds, and the aircraft flown by Jonny's father Jack Berglund during World War Two.
The duo has worked in East Anglia and London, in bars, clubs, restaurants and at parties, etc. Groovy enough to be the centre of attention, yet subtle enough to provide lovely mellow music to enhance any event, these guys really bring a bit of sophisticated musical spice to any gathering.
